Frank A. Rubino Award for Excellence in Clinical Neurology Teaching

This prestigious award is named in memory of Frank A. Rubino, MD. It recognizes exceptional clinical neurology educators, who are the lifeblood of neurology, and is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves by devoting their practice to clinical neurology, seeing patients, and teaching clinical neurology.
Benefits
One recipient will be selected annually and receive a $500 cash prize and a certificate of recognition from the AAN.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be nominated for this award, self-nominations will not be accepted
- Nominees must be an AAN US member
- Nominees must have:
- Demonstrated unparalleled passion for teaching clinical neurology for at least a decade or longer
- Educated various medical professionals in the health care system (i.e. nurses, medical students, residents, fellows) or received awards from these learners
- Emphasized the importance of the fundamentals of the neurological history, the neurological examination, localization, and judicious ordering of confirmatory tests
- Have a demonstrated a track record of consistent teaching excellence in neurology either by letters of recommendation from colleagues or peers, department chairs, or by teaching awards over time (evidence must be included with nomination)
- Been involved in neurologic education activities include significant work in the local level and/or nationally at the AAN or similar level, currently or in the past
- Nominees are not required to have obtained national educator recognition
- Individuals who have received the A. B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award or the A. B. Baker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Neurologic Education within the previous three years (2021, 2022, or 2023) are not eligible.
Nominees must submit the following:
- CV
- Two (2) letters of support from persons other than the nominator
- Evidence of consistent teaching excellence (i.e., list of awards and dates received, photocopy of awards)
