S. Weir Mitchell Resident-Fellow Research Award
About
This award is designed to encourage research in neuroscience by physicians in neurology training programs. The award workgroup considers originality, scientific merit, neurological interest, and clarity of expression as criteria for review. There will be two recipients for this award.
Benefits

- Complimentary registration for 2025 Annual Meeting
- Reimbursement for 2025 Annual Meeting travel (coach airfare) and two nights housing*
- $100 per diem per day for expenses (up to two days)*
*Travel, housing, and per diem benefits are dependent on the ability to execute the in-person portion of the Annual Meeting.
Eligibility
- Applicants should be residents or fellows less than 24 months from the completion of their neurology residency training at the time of submission
- Applicants must submit an abstract to the 2025 Annual Meeting
Applicants should submit one complete set of the following materials:
- Completed application form
- Current curriculum vitae
- A maximum 300-word abstract on research completed by the applicant during their residency or fellowship. Abstract must be submitted to the 2025 Annual Meeting.
- Letter of support from research mentor summarizing applicant’s research including:
- Relevant background material
- Research accomplishments placed in context
- Support received by the applicant while conducting this research
- Verifying all work was completed during applicant’s residency or fellowship period
Application Timeline
The 2025 scientific award application deadline is October 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
